Acquisition-Rehab Programs: Bringing the Dream of Homeownership to Low-Income Families Webinar

Many rural communities have a large stock of older single-family homes as well as an aging population looking to downsize in coming years. In the current economic environment, it is harder than ever for low- and moderate-income households to purchase a new home. Hear from three community-based organizations with programs to purchase, rehabilitate and resell homes to low-income buyers. These programs not only provide more economic security to the buyers but also help revitalize neighborhoods in rural communities. Date & Time: Apr 17, 2025 03:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada). Building Small, Dreaming Big: A PANEL DISCUSSION ON ADUS & SMALL HOMES

Have you ever thought about building an apartment over a garage, a backyard guest house, or another smaller home to provide year-round housing? Whether you are exploring options for extra income, multigenerational living, or to help alleviate the affordable housing crisis, this free event is for you! Join Housing North for an evening of insight, inspiration and practical knowledge as we bring together a powerhouse panel of local experts lead by Shawn Winter, Traverse City Planning Director; Uriah Peterson, experienced builder and Owner of Asher Park Custom Homes; and David Durbin, Traverse City Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) owner and experienced mortgage lender.

Whether you are a homeowner, builder, government official or curious neighbor, come grab a drink, network with fellow small-home enthusiasts and get your questions answered. You can register here.

There are many ways you can join us to address housing in your community.

Housing is the front door to opportunity. When everyone has access to housing that meets their needs, people feel welcomed, neighborhoods grow in diverse and vibrant ways, and our whole community benefits from their energy and investment. However, changing the system for housing is a complex task that we cannot complete on our own. That is why we believe that everyone - from real estate agents, landlords, and lenders to community members and neighbors - should play a role.
